WPG, 제68차 UN CSW에 한국 대표 격으로 참석
IWPG는 2018년부터 해마다 유엔여성지위위원회(United Nations Commission on the Status of Women·이하 UN CSW) 회의에 참가하고 있다. UN CSW는 유엔경제사회이사회(이하 ECOSOC) 산하 기능위원회로 매년 세계 각국 정부와 관련된 국제기구와 비정부기구가 모여 ‘여성의 역량 강화와 권익 증진을 위한 정책 사례를 공유’하고 ‘효과적인 양성평등 정책 이행’ 방안을 논의하는 자리이다.

김은희 지국장은 “우리와 평화 MOU를 맺기도 했고 작년에 진행한 평화 만국회의에도 참석했던 인사를 그곳에서 만났다. 잠비아 내에선 아동과 여성을 보호하고 지원하는 꽤나 큰 단체의 장이다”라며 “MOU 내용을 실현할 평화사업에 대해 구체화했다. 현재 이 단체장을 통해 잠비아에는 줌(ZOOM화상어플)으로 IWPG의 평화교육이 진행되고 있다. 수강생들은 교육 수료 후 IWPG 회원으로서 잠비아 지역에 여성 평화와 세계 평화를 외칠 것”이라 말했다.
