윤석열 대통령이 2일 한·아프리카 정상회의 참석차 방한한 사미아 술루후 하산 탄자니아 대통령과 오찬 회담을 갖고 4차 산업혁명 시대 핵심 광물자원의 안정적 공급을 위해 상호 협력을 강화키로 했다.
양 정상은 북한 핵·미사일 개발은 유엔 안전보장이사회 결의 위반으로 국제사회가 안보리 대북 제재를 철저히 이행해야 한다는 데 의견을 같이했다고 대통령실이 전했다.
또 양국이 1992년 수교 이래 우호 협력 관계를 지속로 발전시켜 왔음을 평가하며 향후 다양한 분야에서 미래지향적 실질 협력을 발전시켜 나가자는데 의견을 같이했다.
윤 대통령은 "아프리카 국가 중 처음 탄자니아와 경제동반자협정(EPA) 협상 개시를 선언케 된 걸 기쁘게 생각한다"며 "협정이 조속 체결돼 양국 간 교역 품목 다변화·교역량 증대에 기여하길 바란다"고 말했다.
이어 "탄자니아 내 교량·철도 등 주요 인프라 구축에 한국 기업이 참여해 많은 성과를 내고 있다"며 "인프라 분야 협력을 계속 강화해 나가자"고 말했다.
하산 대통령은 "양국 간 교역·투자 증진을 위해 계속 긴밀히 협력해 나가길 희망한다"며 "더 많은 한국 기업이 탄자니아 경제 발전·주민 생활 여건 개선을 위한 개발 사업에 참여하길 기대한다"고 말했다.
그러면서 "한국 K-팝·K-푸드·K-드라마 등을 인상 깊게 느끼며 즐기고 있다"며 "이번 공식 방한이 탄자니아와 한국 간 협력 관계를 더욱 강화하는 계기가 될 것"이라고 말했다.
양국은 회담을 계기로 '핵심광물 공급망 양해각서(MOU)'와 '청색경제 협력 MOU'를 체결했다. 탄자니아는 리튬·코발트·니켈 등 핵심광물을 보유하고 있다. 양국은 해양수산 분야에서의 상호 협력 관계 강화에도 뜻을 모았다.
