【브레이크뉴스 경주】박희경 기자=경주시는 중국 자매도시인 안후이성 츠저우시 대표단이 지난 3일, 1박 2일간의 일정으로 경주를 방문했다고 4일 밝혔다.

주하오둥(朱浩東) 중국 츠저우시 당서기를 단장으로 한 대표단은 경주시-츠저우시 양 도시간 경제·관광교류 증진을 목적으로 경주를 찾았다.
츠저우시는 중국 안후이(安徽)성 남서쪽에 위치한 도시로, 창쟝(長江, 양쯔강) 남안의 강변 항구도시로 중국의 대표하는 역사문화 도시다.
경주와 츠저우의 인연은 1300년 전으로 거슬러 올라간다. 신라 성덕왕의 첫째 아들로 당나라에 건너가 불교에 귀의한 김교각 스님이 1300여 년 전설법을 펼쳤다는 곳이 츠저우다.
경주시와 츠저우시는 이런 역사적 인연을 바탕으로 2015년 자매결연 의향서를 체결한 바 있다.
그간 코로나 팬데믹 등으로 인해 온라인 교류를 이어오다 2023년 9월, 경주시 대표단의 츠저우 방문을 계기로 오랜 숙원이었던 자매결연을 체결했다.
자매결연 체결 당시 츠저우시장이었던 주하오둥 당서기의 이번 경주 방문을 계기로, 두 도시는 교류 강화를 위한 새로운 걸음을 시작했다.
주하오둥 츠저우시 당서기는 “경주시와 츠저우시 간 공통점을 바탕으로 양 도시가 문화·관광·경제산업 등 분야에서 미래지향적인 협력 방안을 모색하자”고 강조했다.
주낙영 경주시장은 “경주와 츠저우는 한중 우호교류의 상징인 김교각 스님의 인연으로 우정을 쌓아 왔다”며, “앞으로 양 도시가 더 다양한 분야에서 협력하자”고 화답했다.
한편 츠저우시 대표단은 1박 2일의 경주 일정을 마치고 서울 방문을 끝으로 중국으로 돌아갈 예정이다.

Based on this historical relationship, Gyeongju City and Chizhou City signed a letter of intent for sisterhood in 2015.
They continued to exchange online due to the coronavirus pandemic, but in September 2023, a long-awaited sisterhood relationship was concluded following a visit to Chizhou by a delegation from Gyeongju City.
With the visit of Party Secretary Zhu Haodong, who was mayor of Chizhou at the time of signing the sisterhood relationship, to Gyeongju, the two cities took a new step toward strengthening exchanges.

Gyeongju Mayor Joo Nak-yeong responded, saying, “Gyeongju and Chizhou have built a friendship through the relationship of monk Kim Gyo-gak, a symbol of friendly exchange between Korea and China.” He added, “Let’s cooperate in more diverse fields between the two cities in the future.”
Meanwhile, the Chizhou City delegation is scheduled to return to China after completing a 2-day and 1-night racing schedule and a visit to Seoul.
