윤석열 대통령이 13일(현지시간) 중앙아시아 3국 국빈 순방 마지막 방문국 우즈베키스탄에서 현지 동포들과 만나 "정부가 여러분과 긴밀히 소통하면서 우즈베키스탄을 비롯 중앙아시아 국가들과의 파트너십을 더 강화해 나갈 것"이라고 밝혔다.
윤 대통령은 이날 저녁 타슈켄트 힐튼호텔에서 열린 우즈벡 동포 만찬 간담회에 부인 김건희 여사와 함께 참석해 "양국 관계가 이렇게 발전해 나가는 만큼 우리 동포 여러분 활동 외연도 더 커지고 더 나아질 거라 생각한다"며 이렇게 말했다.
이어 "지난해 한·우즈베키스탄 양국 교역액이 24억5000만달러를 기록하면서 역대 최대 규모까지 달성했다"며 "우즈베키스탄 여러 학교엔 2만명이 넘는 학생들이 한국어를 정규 과목으로 배우고 있고 양국 청년들 인적 교류도 꾸준히 증가하고 있다"고 말했다.
