우즈베키스탄을 국빈 방문한 윤석열 대통령이 15일(현지시간) 유네스코 세계문화유산 고도 사마르칸트 방문으로 중앙아시아 3국 순방 일정을 마무리 한다.
윤 대통령과 부인 김건희 여사는 이날 우즈벡 국빈 방문 마지막 일정으로 과거 실크로드 중심지 사마르칸트를 방문해 양국 교역 역사를 되짚어 보면서 상호 협력·신뢰 관계를 다진다.
고 카리모프 우즈벡 초대 대통령 고향이기도 한 사마르칸트는 우즈벡 대표적 역사·문화 유적지로 지난 2001년 도시 전체가 유네스코 세계문화유산으로 등록됐다. 샤브카트 미르지요예프 우즈벡 대통령도 사마르칸트 주지사를 역임한 바 있다.
윤 대통령은 사마르칸트 방문으로 중앙아시아 3국(투르크메니스탄·카자흐스탄·우즈베키스탄) 순방 일정(5.10~15일)을 모두 마무리하고 이날 오후 귀국길에 오른다.
윤 대통령은 이번 순방을 통해 중앙아 자원 부국들과 에너지·핵심광물 공급망을 강화한 가운데 천연가스·원유·핵심광물 등을 다량 보유한 이들 국가와 경제협력을 강화하고 한국 기업 진출을 돕는 데 주력했다.
또 외교 네트워크를 중앙아로 확장하는 'K·실크로드 구상'과 '한·중앙아 정상회의' 기반을 마련한 가운데 북한 완전한 비핵화 등 윤석열 정부 대북 정책에 대한 중앙아 3국의 변함없는 지지 역시 확보했다.
더불어 우즈벡에 한국 고속철 수출 계약이 체결됐고 투르크·카자흐에선 가스전·화학 플랜트 사업·원자력발전소 건설 사업 등 진출에 청신호가 켜졌다.
