대통령실이 21일 우크라이나에 대한 무기 지원 수준은 향후 러시아 태도에 따라 달라질 거란 입장을 내놨다.
대통령실 관계자는 이날 "무기를 제공하는 데 다양한 옵션이 있다"며 "구체적 방안은 최근 북·러 동향 관련해 우리 측이 어제 밝힌 입장에 앞으로 러시아가 어떻게 접근해 오느냐에 따라 검토해 나갈 것"이라고 밝혔다.
블라디미르 푸틴 러시아 대통령이 북한·베트남 순방 마무리 기자회견서 한국의 우크라에 대한 살상 무기 공급 가능성 관련해 "아주 큰 실수가 될 것"이라고 한 데 대한 반응이다.
일각에선 155㎜ 포탄을 우크라에 우선 지원할 수 있다는 관측이 나오는 가운데 대통령실 관계자는 관련 보도에 "사실이 아니다"고 선을 그었다.
전날 대통령실은 "북·러의 포괄적 전략적 동반자 관계 조약 체결로 상호 군사·경제적 협력을 강화키로 한 데 대해 엄중한 우려를 표하며 규탄한다"며 "우크라이나에 대한 무기 지원 문제는 재검토 예정"이라고 밝혔다.
대통령실 고위 관계자도 전날 "살상 무기를 준다 안 준다 말 않겠다"며 "무기 지원은 여러 옵션이 있고 살상·비살상에 따라 다르게 분류할 여러 방법도 있다"고 말했었다.
이는 우크라에 대한 살상 무기 지원 가능성까지 열어 두되 향후 러시아 측 움직임에 따라 수위를 조정할 거란 설명인 셈이다.
