[브레이크뉴스=정철규 기자] 진주시는 수출 중소기업의 미국 시장 진출을 위해 24일부터 오는 29일까지 시카고와 디트로이트 지역에 종합무역사절단을 파견했다.
이번 종합무역사절단은 진주시와 한국무역협회가 함께 추진하는 사업으로, 미국 중서부 시장 진출을 위해 시카고와 디트로이트에서 현지 바이어와 수출상담을 추진한다.
시는 한국무역협회와 미국 수출 희망 기업들을 대상으로 11개 기업을 선정, 지난 5월부터 시카고와 디트로이트 현지 시장에서 파견 기업에 대한 홍보와 바이어 발굴을 추진해왔다.
미국 시카고와 디트로이트는 전통적으로 기계 부품 산업 생태계가 잘 구축돼 있고, 글로벌 OEM 기업과 현지 1·2차 벤더 기업들이 위치해 진주시 기업들의 진출 기대가 큰 곳이다.
시는 사절단의 성과를 높이기 위해 중소벤처기업진흥공단 시카고지부 방문을 통한 시장조사를 진행하고, GM 구매팀장 등 현지 전문가로부터 노하우도 전수받는다.
진주시 관계자는 “글로벌 공급망 재편이라는 기회를 진주시 기업에 제공하기 위해 미국으로 사절단을 파견하게 됐다”며 “시카고와 디트로이트 시장에 기업들이 진출할 수 있도록 적극 지원하겠다”고 말했다.
이번 사절단에 참여한 A기업 대표는 “바이어와 성약을 위해 철저하게 준비했다”며 “미국이라는 글로벌 시장에 진출할 수 있는 좋은 기회를 살리겠다”는 포부를 전했다.
