브레이크뉴스 최애리 기자= 코웨이는 날씨 빅데이터 플랫폼 기업 케이웨더와 함께 과학기술정보통신부·정보통신산업진흥원이 주관하는 ‘XaaS 선도 프로젝트’에 참여한다고 25일 밝혔다.
이번 프로젝트는 전 산업의 디지털 서비스화 촉진을 위한 사업의 일환이며, ESG 분야에서 기후리스크 분석 및 관리에 대한 국내 기업들의 기술 개발이 부족한 상황을 해결하기 위한 목적으로 마련됐다.
코웨이 및 참여 기업들은 이번 프로젝트를 통해 스코프(Scope, 배출 범위) 3레벨(공급망의 기후리스크까지 포함하는 수준)의 기후리스크를 분석 및 관리할 수 있는 범용 소프트웨어를 개발할 예정이다.
이번 기후리스크 관리 소프트웨어는 서비스형 시스템(XaaS, Everything as a Service)을 기반으로 개발될 예정이다. 또한, 금융감독원과 이화여대가 영국대사관, 국내 대기업 12개사와 협력해 개발한 기후리스크 관리 모형 ‘프런티어 1.5D’를 적용해 신뢰성을 극대화할 계획이다.
한편, 코웨이는 올해부터 스코프 3레벨 단위의 온실가스 배출량을 공시할 예정이며, 향후 기후리스크 관리 소프트웨어 개발이 완료되면 자회사 및 협력 기업에도 적용할 방침이다.
코웨이 관계자는 “해당 소프트웨어가 완성되면 많은 기업들이 경제‥정책‥기후 시나리오에 따른 기업의 리스크를 추정하고, 이를 바탕으로 ESG 경영을 적극적으로 실천할 수 있을 것으로 기대하고 있다”며 “앞으로도 코웨이는 미래 세대에게 건강한 환경을 물려줄 수 있도록 다양한 친환경 ESG 활동을 진행할 계획이다”고 말했다.
