세종시가 세종교육청과 공동으로 교육부 주관 ‘교육발전특구 시범지역 2차 지정 공모’에 신청했다고 28일 밝혔다.
교육발전특구는 지자체와 교육청이 대학, 산업체 등 지역기관과 협력해 지역맞춤형 교육 발전 전략을 자율적으로 마련하고 지역인재를 육성·지원하는 체제다.
시와 교육청은 ‘세계로 나아가는 미래 교육도시, 세종’을 비전으로 온마을이 함께하는 늘봄체제 구축 ,디지털 기반 교육혁신 ,지역정주형 인재양성 생태계 조성 등 9개 중점과제를 추진할 계획이다.
특히 특성화고-대학-산업체로 이어지는 진학·취업 체계 마련을 위해 현장 연계 교육과정을 개발·운영하는 내용과 지역 내 취업과 정착을 유도하는 인턴십 연계 지역인재 채용 확대를 주요 과제로 포함했다.
또 지역 미래산업과 지역혁신 중심 대학지원체계(RISE)를 활용해 시, 교육청, 대학, 공공기관 등 8개 기관이 협약을 체결하고 지·산·학 협치(거버넌스)를 구축해 지역 청년들에게 더많은 취업·창업 기회를 제공할 계획이다.
기회발전특구와도 연계해 수도권 이전기업, 사이버보안, 미래모빌리티, 양자, 가속기 등 미래전략산업에 필요한 전문인력 육성 체계를 구축, 상호보완하는 효과를 도모한다는 복안이다.
한편 양 기관은 2022년 9월부터 실무협의체를 운영해 왔으며 지난해 12월 교육발전특구 기본구상 연구 용역 공동 추진을 위한 협약을 체결하는 등 공모 신청을 위해 꾸준히 협력해 왔다.
