경주시는 ESG경영 모범도시 실천 로드맵 설정, 2050 탄소중립 실천 선도도시 선포, 경주형 에너지절약 인센티브제 시행, 탄소중립 실천 추진전략 구상 등의 공로를 인정받았다.
시는 먼저 ESG 경영 모범도시를 체계적으로 실현하고자 경주형ESG 실행계획 및 지표를 발굴했다.
현재 환경경영(Environment)분야 56건, 사회적 책임(Social) 분야 59건, 건전하고 투명한 지배구조(Governance)분야 27건 등 총 142건의 세부 실천과제를 수립했다.
올 2월부터는 학생, 주부, 소상공인 등 각계각층의 자발적 실천유도로 탄소중립 시민 실천운동을 추진하고 있으며, 올 4월에는 탄소중립 실천 선도도시 선포식을 개최했다.
