‘과학도시 대전’의 저력을 확인시킨 ‘2026 대전사이언스페스티벌’이 시민과 관광객의 뜨거운 호응 속에 3일간의 대장정을 마무리했다.
대전시는 지난 17일부터 19일까지 엑스포과학공원 일원에서 개최된 이번 축제에 약 37만 명의 관람객이 방문하며 성황리에 폐막했다고 밝혔다. 올해는 ‘AI와 인간의 공존’을 핵심 주제로 내걸고, 첨단 기술과 시민 참여형 콘텐츠를 결합한 고품격 과학문화 모델을 선보였다.
이번 행사는 과학기술정보통신부의 ‘대한민국 과학축제’와 통합 개최되고 국립중앙과학관의 ‘사이언스 데이’와 연계되면서 역대급 규모로 치러졌다.
총 287개 기관이 참여해 420개의 다채로운 프로그램을 운영했으며, DCC 제2전시장부터 한밭수목원까지 이어지는 6개 거점을 중심으로 도심 전체가 거대한 과학 실험실로 변모했다.
대전컨벤션센터(DCC)에서는 최첨단 인공지능(AI) 전시와 VR·로봇 체험이 관람객들을 맞이했다. 특히 함께 열린 ‘세계과학문화포럼’에서는 최재천 교수 등 국내외 석학들이 참여해 AI 시대 인류의 나아갈 방향에 대해 깊이 있는 담론을 나눴다.
야외 광장과 엑스포다리 등지에서는 가족 단위 방문객을 위한 프로그램이 활기를 띠었다. RC카 레이싱, 종이비행기 챌린지 등 체험형 이벤트와 함께 과학마술, 버스킹 공연이 더해져 축제의 흥겨움을 돋웠다.
