[브레이크뉴스=정철규 기자] 조규일 진주시장은 23일 정부대전청사 임상섭 산림청장을 방문해 ‘2025 대한민국 정원산업박람회’ 진주시 유치, ‘정원문화도시’추진 등 현안사업을 건의했다고 밝혔다.
대한민국 정원산업박람회는 산림청이 관광활성화에 기여하고 지역주민 고용 및 정원 관련 업체 참여로 지역경제 성장에 도움을 주기 위해 지난 2020년부터 개최된 정원문화행사다.
대한민국 정원산업박람회는 지금까지 순천(2회), 울산, 세종에서 개최됐고, 올해는 서울에서 박람회가 열린다.
이날 조 시장은 임상섭 청장과의 면담 자리에서 진주시의 대한민국 정원산업박람회 유치 필요성과 당위성, 월아산 지방정원 조성, 정원문화도시 추진 등 진주시 정원사업에 대해 설명했다.
조규일 시장은 “진주시는 남강부터 월아산까지 산과 물, 자연과 함께 도시가 성장해온 대표적인 지역이다”며“정원 속의 도시에서 진주 같은 정원으로 발전시켜 나갈 것”이라고 말했다.
