세종시가 내달 1일부터 택시 기본요금을 현행 3300원에서 4000원으로 인상한다고 밝혔다.
세종시의 택시 기본요금 인상은 지난 2022년 4월 이후 2년 4개월 만에 요금 인상이다.
인상안을 보면 중형택시 기준 기본요금은 기존 3300원에서 전국 최저 수준인 4000원으로 인상되고 심야·사업구역 외 할증률은 25%에서 30%로 조정된다.
대전, 청주, 공주 등 인근 지자체들은 지난해 요금을 인상했으나 시는 시민 부담을 최소화하기 위해 최대한 택시요금 인상을 늦추고자 노력해 왔다.
하지만 지속적인 물가 상승에 따른 운송원가 상승과 재정 여건 악화로 인한 택시업계의 경영난 해소를 위해 요금 인상은 불가피한 상황이다.
시가 택시요금 인상 여부 결정을 위해 지난 3월부터 택시운임·요율 조정 검토 용역을 실시해 운송수지를 분석한 결과 일일 대당 약 6만 원의 적자가 발생하는 것으로 나타났다.
택시 업계의 운송수지 개선을 위해서는 최소 1100원 이상의 요금 인상이 필요하다는 결과가 도출된 것이다.
다만 시민 부담을 최소화하기 위해 타 지자체 인상률인 21∼26%, 인상폭 700원∼1,000원인 점을 감안해 이번 인상폭을 결정했다.
중형택시 기준 기본요금은 3,300원에서 4,000원으로 인상되는데, 거리요금은 105m당 100원에서 97m당 100원, 시간요금은 34초당 100원에서 29초당 100원으로 변경된다.
심야 할증 시간은 기존 자정에서 새벽 4시까지 적용됐지만 오후 10시에서 다음날 새벽 4시로 확대된다.
대형택시의 경우 기본요금은 기존 3500원에서 4500원으로 인상되며 심야·사업구역 외 할증률은 중형택시와 동일하게 30%로 조정된다.
