브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 입추를 맞이한 7일에도 한낮 기온이 35도를 넘는 등 폭염이 지속되는 가운데 정부와 국회는 올해 여름 한시적으로나마 전기요금을 낮출 방안이 있는지 검토에 들어갔다.
7일 정치권에 산업통상자원부에 따르면 올해 여름철만이라도 한시적으로 가정용 전기의 누진 요금제를 조정하는 방안 등 전기요금 부담 완화를 위한 검토와 논의에 착수했다.
가장 먼저 움직인 것은 국회다. 앞서 한동훈 국민의힘 대표는 지난 5일 최고위원회의에서 "연일 계속되는 폭염으로 국민들의 피해가 심하다"며 "폭염에 대한 피해도 취약층과 다른계층 사이에 격차 해소가 필요하다. 전기료 부담을 줄이기 위한 대책을 당정이 함께 논의하겠다"고 말했다.

산업부도 여름 전력수급 전망 및 대책 전망을 통해 8월 둘째주 평일이 최대 전력 수요 기간이라고 예측하며, 7~8월 한시적으로 누진 요금제를 조정하는 방안을 포함해 다각도로 검토하겠다고 밝혔다.
