이날 자리에는 주낙영 경주시장, 양금희 경상북도 경제부지사, 허부걸 ㈜대성사 대표이사 등 10여명이 참석했다.
㈜대성사는 이번 투자협약으로 2026년까지 구어2일반산업단지 3만6896㎡ 부지에 1100억원을 투자해 전기차 플랫폼을 포함한 자동차용 차체 부품을 생산하는 공장을 조성한다.
특히 차체 경량화 강성에 필수 공정인 핫스탬핑 공정을 이용해 전기차 플랫폼 라인을 만든다. 100여 명의 새로운 일자리 창출도 기대된다.
경주시와 경북도는 투자계획이 성공적으로 추진될 수 있도록 공장설립 인·허가 등의 행·재정적 사항을 적극 지원할 계획이다.
시는 이번 국내 자동차 산업 분야의 기술 경쟁력을 보유한 기업의 유치를 통해 내연차, 전기차를 포함한 연산 170만대 규모가 예상되는 현대자동차 최고 부품 허브로의 입지를 공고히 할 것으로 기대한다.
또 경주 e-모빌리티 연구단지 내 3곳의 R&D센터와 더불어 신소재를 활용한 차량 경량화, 친환경 자동차 개발 등 미래형 자동차 혁신 생태계 구축에 시너지 효과 창출을 예상한다.
한편 1968년에 창업한 ㈜대성사는 현대자동차의 첫 조립 차량인 1969년 코티나 부품 공급을 필두로 포니, 엘란트라, 소나타, 투싼, 코나, 펠리세이드, 넥소, 아이오닉5, GV60까지 현대차의 모든 차량에 부품을 공급해 온 기업이다.
최근 초고장력강(超高張力鋼), 알루미늄, CFRP(탄소섬유강화플라스틱) 성형 기술 등 지속적인 연구개발을 통해 미래차 기술을 선도하기 위한 투자에도 박차를 가하고 있다.
허부걸 ㈜대성사 대표이사는 “대성사는 반세기 넘게 자동차 부품을 제조한 역사를 바탕으로 글로벌 자동차 부품산업을 선도해 나갈 것”이며“경주공장은 차량 경량화, 친환경 부품생산 등 미래차 선도기술을 선도해 나가는 전진기지가 될 것이다”고 말했다.
양금희 경상북도 경제부지사는 “이번 투자는 경상북도와 경주시의 지속 가능한 경제 발전과 함께 미래 전기차 시장에서의 경쟁력을 한층 강화할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다“라며 “㈜대성사와의 긴밀한 협력 관계를 바탕으로 자동차 산업의 새로운 시대를 선도해 나가겠다”고 전했다.
