화장실문화시민연대는 8월26일 보도자료에서 “화장실문화시민연대, (사) 한국화장실문화협회는 8월 23일 “화장실 내에서의 불법 촬영은 중대한 범죄행위”라는 캠페인과 “남녀 공용화장실은 안돼요”라는 캠페인을 가졌다“고 알렸다.
보도자료에 따르면, 이날 캠페인은 서울교통공사 신설동역과 고려대역을 지나는 시민들에게 불법 촬영 탐지 카드와 손수건을 나누어 드리며 불법 카메라 찾아내기 참여를 부탁했다.
캠페인을 주관한 표혜령 화장실문화시민연대 대표는 “화장실 내 불법 촬영 적발 시 5천만 원의 벌금과 7년 이하의 징역형에 처해지지만 어떤 형태의 성폭력이라도 우리 사회에 발붙이지 못하게 함께 도와주시기 바란다.”라고 말했다.
