공주시 종합터미널에서 세종시 한별동까지 약 18.5㎞ BRT 노선을 연결하는 간선급행버스체계(BRT) 구축사업이 오는 10월 착공될 예정이다.
26일 국토교통부에 따르면 세종시와 공주시가 국토부 대도시권광역교통위원회에 제출한 세종∼공주 광역 간선급행버스체계(BRT) 구축사업 실시계획을 최종 승인·고시했다.
이 노선이 구축되면 공주 종합터미널부터 세종시 한별동까지 기존 55분에서 39분으로 16분 정도 단축될 것으로 보인다.
총 사업비 218억 3천 7백여 만원이 투입되는 이번 사업은 2026년 상반기 준공이 목표다.
노선 경유지는 공주시 종합버스터미널을 출발해 신관초교, 신월초교, 월송동, 장기농공단지, 정부세종청사, 세종충남대학교병원, 한별동 등이다.
해당 구간에는 총 28개의 정류장이 설치되며 이 중 월송동, 장군면 봉안리, 다정동, 종촌동 등 4곳에는 상하행선 중앙정류장 8곳이 신설된다.
이밖에 12곳은 기존 가로변 정류장, 8곳은 기존 BRT 정류장과 공유된다.
특히 세종시 기존 BRT도로와 연계해 어진교차로∼너비뜰교차로∼봉안교차로∼공주시 신월초 교차로까지 BRT 전용도로가 설치되면서 버스가 정체 없이 빠르게 이동할 수 있게 됐다.
한편 세종시는 이번 사업이 버스의 통행속도와 정시성을 높여 이용자들에게 안정적이고 편리한 교통 서비스를 제공할 수 있을 것으로 예상했다.
