세종과 대전 주요 지점을 연결하는 광역급행버스 개념인 '세종 M1버스'가 오는 9월 10일부터 운항을 시작한다.
남궁호 세종시교통국장은 28일 오전 기자회견을 열고 노선과 시간표, 요금 등 구체적 계획을 발표했다.
세종 M1버스는 우선 대중교통과 수요가 많은 세종터미널과 반석역을 중심으로 16대의 운행을 시작하게 된다.
세종시는 16대를 투입해 시간 15분 간격, 1일 134회 상·하행 편도로 운행할 계획이다.
운행 시간은 약 36.2㎞(편도기준), 약 100분 정도 소요될 것으로 예상했다.
M 버스 이용 요금은 2,000원이나 행정구역을 넘어가면 300원을 추가로 내야한다.
세종시는 M 버스 운행을 시작하면 기존 간선급행버스체계(BRT) 노선의 수요를 분산해 혼잡도 개선과 접근성이 크게 높아질 것으로 기대했다.
남궁호 국장은 “ 대전시와 협력을 통해 M1 버스를 운행할 수 있게 됐다”며 “양 도시 간 상생협력과 대중교통 경쟁력 강화를 통해 충청권 광역교통체계를 탄탄히 다질 수 있도록 하겠다”고 말했다.
