31일 오후 처인구 용인문화예술원 마루홀에서 대회장인 이상일 용인특례시장은 개막식에 참석해 본선에 진출한 전국의 8개 시민연극단체팀을 응원하고 격려했다.
개막식에는 연극제 대회장인 이상일 시장과 손정우 한국연극협회 이사장, 한원식 한국연협회 경기도지회장 등이 참석했다.
이상일 시장은 “용인에선 지난 6월 28일 ‘제42회 대한민국연극제’ 개최에 이어 ‘제1회 대한민국 대한연극제’가 열렸고, 이제 대미를 장식할 ‘제3회 대한민국 시민연극제’까지 열려 많은 시민ㆍ국민들이 연극의 향연을 즐기게 된 것을 뜻깊게 생각하고 참가해 주신 모든 분께 감사의 뜻을 전한다”며 “45개팀이 신청해 8개 팀이 선발됐으니 경쟁률이 매우 높았는데 진출작들에 대한 소개 영상을 보니 하나같이 호기심을 자극하는데 관객들이 이번에도 연극의 매력에 푹 빠지실 것 같다”고 말했다.

본선에 오른 시민연극단체의 경연작은 9월 1일부터 8일까지 문화예술원 마루홀에서 관람할 수 있으며, 객석은 선착순으로 주어진다.
