[브레이크뉴스경기남부=용인 이현준기자] 이상일 용인특례시장은 31일 ‘함께 서기 비저닝(Visioning) 워크숍’에 참석했다.
관내 처인구 포곡읍 라마다호텔에서 열린 예비 자립준비청년을 위한 자리는 이들을 격려하고 청년 질문에 답변하는 형식의 미니 토크쇼를 진행하며 소통했다.
아동복지시설이나 위탁가정 등에서 보호를 받다가 만 18세가 되면 보호가 종료되고 홀로서기를 해야 하는 청년들을 응원하기 위해 시가 마련한 이날 행사엔 예비 자립준비청년, 자립을 통해 새로운 삶을 개척하고 있는 청년, 시설 관계자 등 50여 명이 참석했다.
이상일 시장은 “여러분들에게 여러분들만의 꿈이 있을 터, 그 꿈들을 잘 가꿔나가기를 응원하는 마음에서 이렇게 함께 했다”고 말했다.
이날 청년들은 전문 강사와 함께 자기효능감과 강점 브랜딩 찾아보기를 주제로 아이스브레이킹, MBTI 성격 유형 검사, 꿈·진로 브레인스토밍 등을 했다.
이어 이상일 시장과 미니 토크를 하며 평소 이 시장에 궁금했던 점을 묻고 답변을 듣는 시간을 가졌다. 미니 토크는 청년들이 사전에 이 시장에게 묻고 싶었던 질문들을 받아 포스트잇에 붙이고 사회자가 이를 선택해 질문하고 이 시장이 답하는 형식으로 이뤄졌다.

또 다른 질문은 “시장님께서 다시 청년 시절로 돌아간다면 오늘이 자리의 청년들에게 어떤 조언을 할 것인가”였다.
이 시장은 “제가 청년 시절을 돌이켜 볼 때 좀 더 폭넓은 분야를 좀 더 깊이 공부했으면 좋았겠다고 생각한다"며 "개인적으로 미술, 음악, 문학 등에 관심이 많고 공부도 꽤 하고 있는데 청년이었을 때엔 시간을 알차게 쓰지 못한 것 같아 아쉬움이 있다”고 말했다.

이상일 시장은 지난 2023년 자립 준비 청년들과 두 차례 만난 데 이어 이날 세 번째 만남을 가졌다.
이 시장은 지난해 한 자립 준비 청년의 ‘반기문 전 유엔사무총장의 사인을 받고 싶다’는 이야기를 듣고 반 총장에게 특별히 요청해 사인이 담긴 책을 선물하기도 했다.
용인특례시는 올해 자립 준비 청년을 위해 이웃돕기 성금을 활용해 2400여 명의 자립 비용을 지원했다. 시에는 현재 70여 명의 자립 준비 청년과 10여 명의 예비 자립 준비 청년이 홀로서기를 준비하고 있다.
