[브레이크뉴스경기남부=화성 이현준기자] 화성시의회는 화성시 법원 신설을 위한 개정법률안 심의 촉구 입장문을 2일 발표했다.
화성시는 2023년 인구 100만 명을 넘어 특례시의 기준을 갖추었으나 법원 시설이 전무하여 오산시 법원까지 먼 거리를 이동하여 법원 업무를 처리함으로써 화성시민의 불편과 피해로 이어졌으며, 법원 접근성 향상과 사법 서비스를 공평하게 제공받기 위하여 화성시법원 설치 개정법률안 우선 심의를 촉구하는 내용을 담았다.
이계철 대표 의원은 “100만 명 특례시 기준이 넘었음에도 불구하고 인구 60만 명 이상의 시군 지자체 중 유일하게 법원 시설이 전무한 화성시에 화성시법원을 신설하는 것은 공평한 사법 서비스를 제공하는 최우선의 과제이다”라고 전제한 뒤, “국회는 제21대 국회 법제사법위원회 법안심사제1소위원회에서 여야 합의와 법원, 법무부가 동의한 화성시법원 설치가 실현될 수 있도록 관련 개정법률안을 조속히 심의할 것을 촉구한다.”라고 강조했다.
한편, ‘화성시 법원 유치 연구회’는 2024년 4월 구성된 연구단체로 이계철 대표 의원을 비롯한 김상균, 김영수, 김종복, 배정수, 위영란, 이용운, 임채덕, 정흥범, 조오순, 최은희 의원이 참여했다. 화성시 법원 설치 관련 국회 및 법원의 상황 분석 및 법원 유치를 위한 의회의 역할을 도출하고 관련 연구용역을 진행하였으며, 내달 연구 활동 결과보고서를 의장에게 제출하여 법원 유치를 위한 연구 활동을 마무리할 계획이다.
