대통령실이 10일 기존 사회수석실 산하 기후환경비서관실을 과학기술수석실 산하로 이관한다고 전했다.
성태윤 정책실장은 이날 오전 용산 대통령실 브리핑에서 이같이 밝히고 "조직개편을 통해 탈탄소 시대를 과학기술로 준비코자 한다"며 "기후환경은 과학기술·산업·경제·사회·문화 전반에 걸쳐 있는 융복합적 분야로 과학기술 중요성이 날로 커져 과학 기술적 해법이 필수적"이라고 전했다.
그러면서 "기후환경 업무를 과학기술수석실에서 담당함으로써 기후환경 문제에 대한 과학적 접근을 강화하고 실질 실행력을 담보할 수 있을 것"이라며 "이번 조직개편은 글로벌 어젠다인 인공지능·디지털 전환과 함께 탈탄소 전환을 동시 추진해 대한민국 미래를 준비한다는 데도 의미있다"고 강조했다.
더불어 "윤석열 정부는 기후변화 대응은 물론 환경보건·국민 생활 환경·질 개선에 많은 노력을 하고 있다"며 "친환경 기술 혁신으로 신산업을 육성해 탄소중립 이행은 물론 새로운 성장 기회로 삼는 노력을 경주하고 있다"고 덧붙였다.
이번 조직개편에 따라 대통령실 과학기술수석실은 연구개발혁신비서관·인공지능디지털비서관·첨단바이오비서관·기후환경비서관 체제가 됐다.
