Presidential Office, Han Dong-hoon's 25-year medical school increase postponement suggestion, "Appeal for medical community participation"
"Secretaries to the Presidential Office visited 34 emergency medical sites nationwide to collect suggestions... Strict punishment policy for adverse effects such as personal information disclosure and witch hunts of emergency room dispatched personnel through SNS and refusal to work in emergency rooms"

The Office of the President stated on the 11th that it "thinks it is a sincere appeal to the medical community to participate" in response to People Power Party leader Han Dong-hoon's remarks suggesting a postponement of the increase in medical school enrollment for the 2025 school year.
An official from the Office of the President met with reporters at the Office of the President in Yongsan that afternoon, saying, "If you say it can or cannot, it becomes a question of whether conditions are met or not, so I think the intention is to open up everything and talk about it," and expressed concern over overinterpretation, saying, "We will do that."
In addition, regarding the dispatch of secretaries and administrative officers to 17 city and provincial hospitals across the country from the 5th to the 10th to inspect the medical situation, he said, "The field is difficult and not easy," and "So you can see that we will do our best to respond."
He continued, "Many hospitals have requested the dispatch of military doctors and public health doctors, complaining of serial departures and financial difficulties due to competition among hospitals to scout doctors," and "there have been suggestions to support the dispatched military doctors and public health doctors so that they can perform their duties more actively."
While frontline hospitals have requested civil and criminal immunity for medical professionals, expanded investment in regional and essential medical services, increased fees, expanded support for recruiting personnel, and postponement of repayment of health insurance prepayments, the Office of the President plans to review the suggestions with relevant ministries.
In addition, as a result of sending secretaries to emergency medical sites to assess the situation, the Blue House confirmed that there were serious concerns about personal information disclosure of dispatched personnel, and reaffirmed its strict punishment policy by defining personal information disclosure of dispatched personnel and emergency room workers as a “clear crime.”
An official from the Blue House said, “Secretaries and administrative officers from eight senior offices visited 34 hospitals nationwide for 5 to 10 days,” and “There were opinions from the field that personal information disclosure and witch-hunting behavior of dispatched personnel that appears through SNS is causing side effects such as refusal to work in emergency rooms.”
He continued, “I understand that there is a movement to self-correct (about personal information disclosure and blacklisting of medical staff and their families) within the medical community,” and “I hope that such movement will become more active.”
On the 10th, a file titled “Emergency Room Collaboration” appeared on a website presumed to have been created by doctors, listing the real names of emergency room workers. Following this, on the 11th, immoral comments such as “It doesn’t feel good when Koreans die working emergency rooms”, “I just want more of them to die and be on the news”, and “It’s a gain to kill more of those damn pigs (a derogatory term for the people)” were posted on a community for doctors and medical students.
