대통령실이 18일 북한의 단거리 탄도미사일(SRBM) 발사·쓰레기 풍선 살포 등 연이은 도발에 "정부는 북한 도발에 대해 엄중히 경고하는 바이며 쓰레기 풍선 살포를 비롯 모든 도발행위를 즉각 중단할 것을 촉구한다"고 밝혔다.
대통령실 관계자는 이날 오후 "정부는 북한 도발 움직임을 면밀히 주시하면서 국민 생명·안전을 지키기 위해 빈틈없는 대비태세를 갖추고 다양한 도발 가능성에 대비하고 있다"며 이같이 전했다.
그러면서 "정부는 강력한 힘과 한·미동맹-한·미·일 안보협력을 바탕으로 북한 도발을 강력 억제해 나갈 것"이라고 덧붙였다.
북한은 이날 지난 12일 이후 엿새 만에 또 지난 13일 핵탄두 제조에 쓰이는 고농축 우라늄(HEU) 제조 시설 공개 후 닷새 만에 탄도미사일 발사 도발에 나선 한편 대남 쓰레기 풍선도 이달 들어 세차례(4~8일·11일·14~15일) 포함 지난 세달 반 동안 무려 스무차례 연속 날려 보내는 등 대남 도발을 하고 있다.
