체코를 공식 방문한 윤석열 대통령이 20일(현지시간) "대한민국 팀 코리아는 50년 이상 원전을 안전하게 건설·운영해 왔다"며 "체코 원전 건설에서도 '온 타임 온 버짓(On Time On Budget·정해진 시간과 예산 내 완료) 약속을 지키는 최적 파트너가 될 것"이라고 밝혔다.
윤 대통령은 이날 오전 페트르 피알라 체코 총리와 산업 기술 중심지 '플젠 산업단지' 소재 원전 기업 두산스코다파워·스코다JS를 방문해 협약식 후 정상 연설에서 "체코에 새로 짓는 원전은 '한·체코가 함께하는 원전'이 될 것"이라며 이같이 말했다. 두산스코다파워는 두산에너빌리티 자회사, 스코다 JS는 체코전력공사 자회사다.
그러면서 "체코 원전 관련 기업들과 팀 코리아가 함께 하기 위해 오늘 MOU에 서명했고 원전 건설 뿐만 아닌 운영·정비·핵연료·방폐물 등 원전 생태계 전 주기에 걸쳐 두 나라가 함께 협력키로 했다"며 "오늘 원전 협력 약속들이 충실히 이행되도록 한국 정부도 지원을 아끼지 않겠다"고 밝혔다.
또 "(한·체코 간) 원전 협력을 계기로 한·체코는 세계 원전 르네상스 시대 미래 주역이 될 것"이라며 "한·체코 우수 원전 기업 등 모두가 힘합쳐 새로운 미래를 함께 이끌어 가자"고 제안했다.

윤 대통령은 이날 '원전 협력 MOU'를 비롯 13건의 양해각서(MOU) 체결을 끌어낸 가운데 피알라 총리와 원전 전주기 협력 협약식·터빈블레이드 서명식·양국 정상 연설 등을 진행했다. 원전 전주기 협력 협약식에서 원전 건설·설계·운영·핵연료·방폐물 관리 등 원전 생태계 전주기에 걸친 13건 문서가 체결됐다.
산업통상자원부·체코 산업통상부는 '원전 협력 MOU' 체결을 통해 향후 원전 건설·기술개발·인력양성 등 원전 전분야를 포괄하는 협력기반을 마련했다.
또 한국수력원자력·두산에너빌리티는 두산스코다파워와 '터빈 공급 확정 협약'을 체결한 가운데 두산스코다파워는 발전용 터빈 원천기술을 보유한 세계 3대 기업 중 하나로 체코 신규 원전 사용 핵심 부품을 공급하면서 '한·체코가 함께 짓는 원전' 비전이 실현케 됐다.
더불어 신규 원전 건설에 따른 전문인력 수요 확대에 대비한 한전국제원자력대학원대학·체코 브르노공대 간 '한·체코 원자력 협력센터 MOU'도 체결됐다. 행사 후 윤 대통령과 피알라 총리는 인근에 위치한 스코다JS도 방문해 원전 기자재 생산시설 현장을 둘러봤다.
