체코를 공식 방문한 윤석열 대통령이 20일(현지시간) 프라하 현지 동포들과 만나 "양국 협력이 확대되면 우리 동포 사회도 더 큰 성장 기회를 맞이하게 될 것"이라고 밝혔다.
윤 대통령은 이날 오후 부인 김건희 여사와 함께 프라하 시내 한 호텔에서 열린 현지 동포 만찬 간담회에 참석해 격려사에서 "저와 정부는 체코와의 최종 계약이 성공적으로 잘 마무리될 수 있도록 끝까지 최선을 다할 것"이라며 이같이 말했다.
그러면서 "한국수력원자력이 주축 된 팀 코리아가 지난 7월 24조 규모 체코 두코바니 신규 원전 2기 건설 사업(5·6호기) 우선협상대상자로 선정돼 국내 원전 생태계를 복원하고 1천조가 넘는 글로벌 원전 시장에 활발하게 진출할 교두보를 마련했다"고 전했다.
또 "어제 오늘 체코 대통령·총리·상·하원 의장을 비롯 고위급 인사들을 만나 원전 분야 협력을 바탕으로 양국 간 전략적 동반자 관계를 획기적으로 발전시켜 나아가기로 뜻을 모았다"며 "특히 첨단산업·과학기술·에너지·인프라 포함 다양한 분야로 양국 간 협력 지평을 크게 넓혀 나갈 것"이라고 밝혔다.
이어 "동포 여러분께서 현지 사회에서 더 큰 역량을 발휘하며 불편 없이 활동하실 수 있도록 정부는 더욱 체계적인 지원을 펼치겠다"며 "재외동포청을 통해 동포 사회·본국을 긴밀하게 연결하고 여러분 어려움을 세심하게 살피겠다"고 했다.
더불어 "대한민국이 글로벌 중추 국가로서 외교 지평·경제 영토를 확장하는 데 동포들도 힘을 보태줄 것을 기대한다"고 덧붙였다. 이 자리엔 김명희 체코 한인회장을 비롯 동포 약 80명이 함께했다.
