대통령실이 20일(현지시간) 두코바니 원전 최종 계약 체결 관련해 "체코 총리·대통령·내각 책임자들과 긴 시간 대화하며 느낀 건 한국이란 파트너 외 두코바니 원전을 짓는 데 다른 대안은 지금 머릿속에 전혀 없다는 것"이라고 밝혔다.
대통령실 관계자는 이날 오후 체코 프라하 현지 프레스센터에서 취재진과 만나 "국가 간 일은 백프로 단정해 외교적으로 말씀드리는 게 결례"라며 이같이 전했다.
그러면서 "(체코는) 반드시 여기서 윈·윈 협력 관계를 만들어내야 한다는 확신에 가득 차 있기에 우리 정부도 체코도 반드시 성공적으로 결론짓고 앞으로 수십년간 양국 원전 동맹이 다른 전방위 전략 산업 분야로 끈끈한 파트너십을 맺어갈 수 있길 간절히 바라는 상황"이라고 했다.
또 '페트로 피알라 체코 총리가 이날 오전 윤석열 대통령과 만난 자리에서 원전 건설에 최대 60% 체코 기업 참여를 의무사항이라 생각한다'고 언급한 것에 "원전 분야에서만 13개 MOU(양해각서)가 체결되는 등 가시적 숫자가 많으니 체코 총리가 충분히 달성 가능한 수치로 보인다는 입장을 밝혔다"고 전했다.
더불어 "꼭 지켜야 하는 정답이 제시된 건 아니나 양국 기업·해당 부처 간 계획에 순조롭게 협력 메카니즘 속에 녹아들어 간다면 체코도 만족할 현지화 수준을 기대하고 있다"고 덧붙였다.
