【브레이크뉴스 경주】박희경 기자=경주시는 24일 경주역 동편(황오동, 성동동 일원) 도시재생 뉴딜사업의 일환으로 추진된 황촌 상권활력소(원효로 180) 준공식을 가졌다.

이날 준공식에는 주낙영 시장, 이동협 시의회 의장, 도·시의원, 마을 주민 등 100여 명이 참석해 경과보고, 감사패 수여, 시설 관람 등의 순으로 진행됐다.
이 사업은 그간 철도로 인한 단절, 생활 인프라 부족으로 쇠퇴하는 주거지역에 특화 콘텐츠를 활용해 상권 활성화와 도시 활력 제고를 위해 기획됐다.
시는 지난 2021년 1월부터 이달까지 총 21억 5000만원 예산을 들여 연면적 488㎡, 지상 3층 규모로 황촌 상권활력소를 건립했다.
상권활력소 1·2층은 공공상생점포 4호가 들어서고, 3층은 상인교육실, 리빙랩, 상인 쉼터가 마련된다.
특히 공공상생점포는 주민, 청년 창업가, 마을기업, 사회적기업, 협동조합 등을 대상으로 입주 수요조사를 통해 지역 특성을 반영한 지속성 있는 콘텐츠를 가진 점포를 참여시킬 예정이다.
또 상인교육장과 리빙랩에서는 지역 대학 벤처창업센터, 창업 동아리와 정기적인 워크숍으로 상인들의 역량 강화는 물론 창업 컨설팅, 홍보·마케팅 지원도 제공할 계획이다.
한편 경주시는 올해까지 총 127억 원의 예산을 투입해 경주역 동편 일원에 상권활력소, 마을활력소, 마을부엌/카페, 게스트하우스, 나들이길 등 다양한 도시 재생 뉴딜사업을 추진하고 있다.
주낙영 경주시장은 “철도로 단절된 황촌 지역 상권에 도시재생 뉴딜사업의 거점시설인 황촌 상권활력소는 지역 상권 활성화, 주민 삶의 질 향상을 비롯해 살고 싶은 지역으로 발돋움하는 마중물이 될 것으로 기대한다”고 말했다.

This project was planned to revitalize commercial areas and enhance urban vitality by utilizing specialized content in residential areas that have been declining due to the disconnection of the railroad and lack of living infrastructure.
From January 2021 to this month, the city spent a total budget of 2.15 billion won to build the Hwangchon Commercial Area Revitalization Center with a total floor area of 488㎡ and 3 floors above ground.
The 1st and 2nd floors of the commercial district vitality center will house the 4th public symbiotic store, and the 3rd floor will house a merchant education room, living lab, and merchant shelter.
In particular, the public symbiotic store will be selected through a demand survey targeting residents, young entrepreneurs, village businesses, social enterprises, and cooperatives to include stores with sustainable content that reflects the characteristics of the region.
In addition, the merchant education center and living lab will provide regular workshops with local university venture startup centers and startup clubs to strengthen the capabilities of merchants, as well as startup consulting, promotion, and marketing support.
Meanwhile, Gyeongju City is promoting various urban regeneration New Deal projects such as the commercial district vitality center, village vitality center, village kitchen/cafe, guesthouse, and outing road in the area east of Gyeongju Station by investing a total budget of 12.7 billion won by this year.
Gyeongju Mayor Joo Nak-young said, “We expect that the Hwangchon Commercial District Vitality Center, a hub facility for the urban regeneration New Deal project in the Hwangchon area, which was previously cut off by the railroad, will serve as a catalyst for revitalizing the local commercial district, improving the quality of life for residents, and making it a place people want to live.”
