윤석열 대통령이 부인 김건희 여사와 함께 7일(현지시간) 필리핀 대 스페인 독립운동가 호세 리잘 기념비 헌화로 필리핀 국빈 방문 이틀째 일정을 시작했다.
먼저 윤 대통령은 이날 오전 마닐라 소재 리잘 공원을 방문해 기념비에 헌화했다. 리잘 공원은 필리핀에 대한 스페인의 식민통치(1571-1898) 말기 대표적 독립운동가였던 호세 리잘을 기념하는 곳이다.
필리핀을 방문하는 외빈들은 리잘 기념비를 방문해 헌화하는 것으로 알려진 가운데 이명박 전 대통령 역시 지난 2011년 11월 필리핀을 국빈 방문해 헌화한 바 있다. 리잘 기념비 안엔 호세 리잘 유해 및 그가 저술한 소설 두 권이 안치돼 있다.
이어 윤 대통령은 말라카냥 궁에서 열린 페르디난드 마르코스 주니어 필리핀 대통령 주관 공식 환영식에 참석 후 한·필 정상회담에 들어갔다.
