윤석열 대통령이 11일(현지시간) 동아시아정상회의(EAS)에 참석해 "자유롭고 평화로우며 번영하는 인도·태평양을 위해선 북한 비핵화가 반드시 이뤄져야 한다"고 밝혔다.
윤 대통령은 이날 오전 라오스 수도 비엔티안 국립컨벤션센터(NCC)에서 열린 EAS 비공개 발언을 통해 이같은 취지로 말했다고 대통령실이 전했다. 아세안(ASEAN·동남아시아국가연합) 관련 정상회의 계기로 열린 올해 EAS엔 아세안 회원국·한·중·일·미국·러시아 등이 참석한 가운데 이날 회의엔 미국 토니 블링컨 국무장관·중국 리창 총리·러시아 세르게이 라브로프 외무장관이 자리했다.
대통령실에 따르면 윤 대통령은“오로지 정권 안위를 위해 주민 민생인권을 탄압하고 핵으로 같은 민족을 위협하는 북한 행동은 시간이 지날수록 동북아시아는 물론 인태지역 전체 평화를 위험에 빠뜨릴 것"이라며 이같이 말했다.
그러면서 "북 비핵화를 위해선 국제사회가 북한 핵 개발·도발을 결코 용인하지 않을 것임을 분명히 보여줘야 할 것"이라고 강조 후 통일 정책 '8·15 통일 독트린' '납북자 문제' 해결에 대한 지지를 EAS 정상들에게 요청했다.
또 "EAS는 규범·규칙 기반 역내 질서를 수호할 필요가 있다"며 "러·북 불법적 군사 협력은 우크라이나 전쟁을 더욱 장기화시키고 있는 바 유엔안보리 결의에 대한 정면 도전이며 규범 기반 국제질서를 지켜내기 위한 연대를 한층 강화할 필요가 있다"고 강조했다.
이어 역내 문제 관련해선 "미얀마 분쟁 사태는 문제 해결 역량 시험대"라며 "한국 정부는 미얀마 인도적 상황 개선을 위해 올해 2300만불(약 310억 원)를 지원 예정"이라고 밝혔다.
더불어 이스라엘·팔레스타인 전쟁 등 중동 문제 대해선 "중동 지역 무력 충돌도 인태 지역 평화·안보와 직결된 만큼 휴전·인질 석방 협상이 조속 타결되고 인도주의적 위기가 해소되도록 모두 힘 모아야 할 것"이라고 말했다.
윤 대통령은 이날 EAS 참석을 마지막으로 5박 6일 간의 동남아시아 3국 순방 일정을 모두 마치고 귀국길에 오른다.
