윤석열 대통령이 15일 최근 아세안(ASEAN·동아시아국가연합) 정상회의 참석에 대해 "글로벌 중추 국가로서 아세안 무대서 우리 외교 네트워크를 공고히 했다"고 평가했다.
윤 대통령은 이날 오전 용산 대통령실에서 주재한 제44회 국무회의 모두 발언에서 "이번 동남아 순방을 통해 아시아 우방국들과 인프라·공급망·에너지같은 핵심 경제 협력 분야 전략적 공조를 강화했다"며 이렇게 말했다.

이어 "아세안 정상회의 계기로 열린 한·일 정상회담에서 이시바 일본 총리와 정상 셔틀 외교·각급 소통을 이어가며 한·일 관계를 성숙하게 발전시켜 나가자고 했다"고 전했다.
더불어 아세안 정상회의 계기 호주·태국·베트남·라오스 등과의 정상외교를 거론 후 "각 부처는 이번 순방 성과가 국민께 실질적 혜택으로 이어지도록 후속 조치들을 잘 챙겨주기 바란다"고 당부했다.
