브레이크뉴스 정민우 기자= 한국마사회는 2024년 말테마 농촌체험 휴양마을 시범사업 마을로 빗돌배기 마을을 선정했다고 밝혔다.
지난해 실시한 농촌체험 휴양마을 말체험 활성화방안 연구용역을 통해 2024년 평가단이 서면평가 및 현장 방문평가를 실시한 결과, 지난 6월 경남 창원시 빗돌배기 마을이 최종 확정됐다.
한국마사회가 올해부터 시범 추진하는 이번 사업은 농촌에 말테마 콘텐츠의 보급을 통해 방문객 증가 및 농촌경제 활성화를 견인하는 사업이다. 이번에 대상마을로 선정된 빗돌배기 마을은 말 사양관리 등 맞춤형 컨설팅과 함께 대·중소기업, 농어업 협력재단에 한국마사회가 출연한 농어촌 상생협력기금을 사업비로 지원받게 된다.
창원시 의창구에 위치한 빗돌배기 농어촌체험휴양마을은 2007년 팜스테이마을로 지정됐으며, 2022년 ‘창원독뫼감농업’ 국가중요농업유산(제17호)로 지정된 으뜸촌 마을이다. ‘빗돌’이라는 돌로 이뤄진 동산 아래 터를 이룬 빗돌배기 마을은 미꾸라지 잡기, 단감 따기 등 계절별 다양한 농촌체험 프로그램을 운영하고 있다.
아이들이 뛰어놀기에 더없이 좋은 향토적이고 친환경적인 분위기가 인상적인 빗돌배기 마을은 매년 3만명 이상의 사람들이 방문할 정도로 팜스테이를 즐기는 사람들에게는 이미 유명한 힐링 여행지이기도 하다.
한국마사회 관계자는 “이번 시범사업을 통해 농촌마을이 가지고 있는 보유자원에 말테마 콘텐츠를 접목해 다양하고 이색적인 프로그램이 운영될 수 있도록 지원할 것”이라며 “이러한 활동이 방문객 증가 및 농촌 내 일자리 창출 등 농촌경제 활성화로 이어져 농가경영 안정에 기여할 수 있도록 노력하겠다”고 말했다.
