민병홍 전국기자협회 회장은 “현재 자영업자들이 처한 현실은 매우 심각하다. 지난해 91만 개의 개인 사업자가 폐업을 신고했고, 소매업과 음식업은 각각 20%가 넘는 폐업률을 기록했다”며 “동행 캠페인은 자영업자들을 돕는 것에 그치지 않고 세대 간의 소통과 협력을 통해 사회적 화합을 이루는 중요한 출발점이 될 것”이라면서 “이번 캠페인이 대한민국의 지속 가능한 발전과 지역사회의 화합에 기여하기를 기대한다”고 피력했다.
