배달의민족이 국내 유일의 로봇배달 대회를 개최했다. 로봇을 활용해 배달 기술을 겨루는 대회는 지난해에 이어 2년 연속으로 열렸다.
배달의민족 운영사 ㈜우아한형제들은 10월 25일과 26일 이틀에 걸쳐 일산 킨텍스에서 ‘배달의민족 로봇배달 챌린지’ 대회를 개최했다고 10월 29일 밝혔다.
지난해 처음 시작된 로봇배달 챌린지는 실제 배달환경을 고려한 코스에서 자율주행 로봇을 활용해 배달 경기를 펼치는 방식으로 진행됐다. 우아한형제들은 로봇 배달 기술에 대한 관심을 높이고 우수한 로봇 기술과 인재를 찾기 위해 이번 대회를 개최했다.
이번 대회는 시뮬레이션 환경에서 자율주행을 수행하는 ‘자율주행 미션’과 다양한 장애물이 있는 주행 코스에서 로봇으로 직접 배달을 수행하는 ‘로봇배달 미션’ 두 가지 부문으로 진행됐다.
이번 챌린지에는 각 부문별 서류 심사를 거쳐 경희대, 한국기술교육대, 충남대, 숙명여대 등 총 15개 대학에서 97명이 참여했다. 자율주행 미션 부문에서는 경희대학교 소속 ‘우아한부릉핑’팀이 1등을 차지했다. 로봇배달 미션 부문에서는 한국기술교육대 소속 ‘GADGET’팀이 우승했다.
총 8팀의 수상자에게는 국무총리상(상금 300만원), 산업통상자원부장관상(300만원), 한국로봇산업진흥원장상(200만원), 특허청장상(200만원), 배달의민족 특별상(300만원), 모라이 특별상(100만 원) 등 주최 및 유관기관 시상이 이어졌다.
김명식 우아한형제들 로보틱스LAB 담당자는 “로봇배달과 관련한 실용적인 기술 개발과 우수 인력을 발굴을 위해 지속적으로 노력해 갈 것”이라고 말했다.
Delivery Nation Hosts Korea's Only Robot Delivery Competition

Delivery Nation held the only robot delivery competition in Korea. This is the second consecutive year that the competition, which utilizes robots to compete for delivery technology, has been held.
Ua Han Brothers, the operating company of Delivery.ethnic, announced on October 29 that it held the 'Delivery.ethnic Robot Delivery Challenge' competition at Kintex in Ilsan on October 25 and 26.
The robot delivery challenge, which was first launched last year, was held by competing in a delivery competition using autonomous robots on a course that considers the actual delivery environment. Elegant Brothers organized the competition to raise interest in robot delivery technology and find excellent robot technology and talent.
The competition was divided into two categories: 'Autonomous Driving Mission', which involved autonomous driving in a simulated environment, and 'Robot Delivery Mission', which involved direct delivery by robots on a driving course with various obstacles.
The challenge attracted 97 participants from 15 universities, including Kyunghee University, Korea Advanced Institute of Technology, Chungnam National University, and Sookmyung Women's University, who were screened for each category. In the autonomous driving mission category, the team from Kyunghee University won first place. In the robot delivery mission category, the GADGET team from Korea Advanced Institute of Technology won.
The winners of the eight teams were awarded the Prime Minister's Award (3 million won), the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Award (3 million won), the Korea Robot Industry Promotion Agency Award (2 million won), the Korea Intellectual Property Office Award (2 million won), the Delivery Nation Special Award (3 million won), and the Morai Special Award (1 million won).
“We will continue to strive to develop practical technologies related to robot delivery and discover excellent human resources,” said Kim Myung-sik, a representative of Elegant Brothers Robotics Lab.
