브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 더불어민주당 비명계(비이재명계) 원외 모임인 초일회는 지난 3일 '한국정치의 나아갈 방향'을 주제로 유인태 전 국회의원(전 국회 사무총장)을 초청해 간담회를 개최했다고 밝혔다.
유인태 전 의원은 이 자리에서 현 정치 상황에 대한 깊은 우려를 보이며 정국 정상화를 위한 대안으로 대통령 임기단축 개헌 대신 적대적 양당제 등 선거제도 개혁안을 제시했다.
유 전 의원은 "요즘 정치판이 돌아가는 것을 보면 암담하고 깜깜하다"며 "윤석열 대통령과 이재명 더불어민주당 대표간 적대적 공생관계로 인해 윤 대통령은 국정을 엉망진창으로 만들어 놓았고, 민주당도 나아질 기미가 보이지 않아 걱정된다"고 말했다.
이어 그는 "지금 대통령제의 심각한 폐해를 보면서 제왕적 대통령 권력을 개혁할 수 있는 개헌이 필요하다는 국민적 공감대가 많이 넓어졌을 것인 만큼 정치권을 포함해 여러 세력이 합의하면 좋을 것"이라며 최근 야권에서 제기되는 대통령 임기 단축 개헌에 대해 회의적인 입장을 보였다.
유 전 의원은 "지금의 국가위기 타개책으로 민주당 등에서 대통령 임기를 2년 단축해 내년 봄에 개헌을 하자는 것인데 현재의 정치상황으로 봤을 때 개헌이 쉽게 마음대로 되기 어려울 것"이라며 “그렇게 빠른 시일내에 여러 정치 세력이 합의하기가 쉽겠느냐“고 반문했다.
그러면서 윤 대통령이 임기단축 개헌을 할 생각이 있더라도 민주당과 이 대표가 자기들에게 불리한 조건일 경우 반대한다면 합의가 안 될 것이다. 민주당이 진정으로 임기단축개헌을 할 생각이 아니라면 개헌한다는 얘기를 하면 안 된다"고 지적했다.
유 전 의원은 또 "민주당이 다음 총선에서 또다시 다수당이 되더라도 아무런 희망이 안 보이고 오히려 이 적대적인 관계는 그대로 될 것"이라며 "가장 생산적인 국회였다고 평가받는 여소야대 4당 체제의 13대 국회처럼 다당제 도입이 필요하다"고 재차 강조했다.
마지막으로 유 전 의원은 "우리 정치가 어떻게든 국민을 통합시키고 그 힘을 가지고 개혁도 하고 조금씩 나아가야 한다"면서 "선거 제도를 바꿔서 여야가 국민을 바라보고 합의하는 정치, 국민이 바라는 개혁정치가 이루어졌으면 한다"고 말했다.
한편, 초일회 간사인 양기대 전 의원은 "무너지는 국가 리더십을 바로 세울 수 있는 방안 마련을 위해 정치 원로나 전문가 등의 견해를 다각도로 청취하는 일정을 계획 중"이라며 "다음세미나에서는 국민들이 관심 갖고 지켜볼만한 의제들을 제시해 나갈 것"이라고 했다.
