유진기업이 영하 10도 혹한에도 문제 없는 동절기 콘크리트를 개발했다.
유진그룹(회장 유경선)의 모회사인 유진기업은 겨울철 건설현장의 시공 문제를 해결하기 위해 낮은 온도에서도 타설이 가능한 동절기 콘크리트를 개발했다고 11월 4일 밝혔다.
유진기업에 따르면 계열사 ㈜동양이 협력하여 개발한 이번 동절기 콘크리트는 영하 10도의 혹한의 환경 속에서도 콘크리트 양생을 위한 별도의 급열 보온 조치가 필요 없는 것이 가장 큰 특징이라고 한다.
겨울에는 낮은 온도 때문에 콘크리트의 경화가 지연되거나 내부 수분이 얼어 경화가 중단되는 등 품질 유지에 어려움이 따른다. 특히 영하의 온도에서는 이러한 문제가 더욱 심화되어 건설공정의 지연을 유발할 수 있으며, 구조물의 강도 및 품질에도 부정적인 영향을 미칠 수 있다. 이에 따라 건설현장에서는 겨울철에도 안정적인 강도 확보와 신속한 시공이 가능한 콘크리트 수요가 증가하고 있다.
유진기업이 새로 개발한 동절기 콘크리트는 조강 시멘트와 특수 화학 첨가제를 활용하여 시멘트의 수화반응을 빠르게 촉진시킴으로써 타설 후 40시간 전후에 5Mpa(메가파스칼) 이상의 압축강도를 확보할 수 있다.
이는 기존 제품보다 거푸집 탈형시간을 더욱 단축시킨 것으로, 콘크리트 타설을 늦은 오후에 마친다면 다음날 하루 양생을 거쳐 3일째 오전에는 거푸집 탈형이 가능하다. 이를 통해 동절기에도 건설 공정을 효율적으로 진행할 수 있으며, 보온양생 공정을 생략하여 시공비용 절감효과까지 누릴 수 있다.
시공성 면에서도 개선이 이루어졌다. 일반 슬럼프 규격은 물론, 펌프 압송성과 다짐성이 우수한 중유동 콘크리트도 추가 개발하여 적은 다짐으로도 거푸집 구석까지 채울 수 있어 시공 속도가 빠르고 겨울철에도 인력과 장비 사용을 최소화할 수 있어 효율적인 작업이 가능하다.
유진기업은 지난 6월 여름철 고온에서도 유동성을 유지하는 초지연·초유지 콘크리트 개발에 이어 이번 동절기 제품을 개발하여 사계절 시공이 가능한 제품군을 갖추게 됐다.
유진기업 기술연구소 관계자는 “이번 동절기 콘크리트 개발이 건설 현장의 효율성과 품질의 극대화에 큰 기여를 할 것으로 기대한다”며, “앞으로도 사계절 내내 안정적 시공을 위한 다양한 솔루션을 지속적으로 제공할 계획이다”라고 전했다.

Yujin Corporation has developed a winter concrete that can cure in minus 10 degrees Celsius without any problems.
Yujin Corporation, the parent company of Yujin Group (Chairman Yoo Kyung-sun), announced on Nov. 4 that it has developed winter concrete that can be poured even at low temperatures to solve construction problems at construction sites in winter.
According to Yujin, the winter concrete, which was developed in cooperation with its affiliate Dongyang, is characterized by the fact that it does not require separate heating and insulation measures to cure concrete even in the harsh environment of minus 10 degrees Celsius.
In winter, low temperatures can delay the curing of concrete or freeze the moisture inside, causing it to stop curing. In sub-zero temperatures, these problems can be exacerbated, causing delays in the construction process and negatively impacting the strength and quality of the structure. As a result, construction sites are increasingly demanding concrete that can ensure stable strength and rapid construction even in winter.
Yujin's newly developed winter concrete utilizes crude steel cement and special chemical additives to rapidly promote the hydration reaction of cement, enabling it to secure a compressive strength of more than 5Mpa (megapascal) around 40 hours after pouring.
This further reduces the mold demolding time compared to conventional products, and if the concrete is poured in the late afternoon, the mold can be demolded by the morning of the third day after a full day of curing the next day. This enables the construction process to proceed efficiently even in winter, and reduces construction costs by omitting the warm curing process.
Constructability has also been improved. In addition to general slump specifications, the company has further developed medium-fluid concrete with excellent pumpability and compressibility, which can be filled into the corners of the formwork with less compaction, enabling faster construction speed and efficient work by minimizing the use of manpower and equipment even in winter.
Following the development of ultra-long-lasting and ultra-retentive concrete that maintains fluidity even at high temperatures in the summer in June, Yujin has now developed a product line that can be used for construction in all seasons.
“We expect the development of this winter concrete to make a significant contribution to maximizing the efficiency and quality of construction sites,” said an official from Yujin's R&D Center. ”We will continue to provide various solutions for stable construction throughout the four seasons.”
