세종시의회 박란희 의원은 13일 제94회 정례회 3차 본회의에서 가로수 관리 실태를 짚어보고 개선을 촉구했다.
이날 박란희 의원은 '도시숲법'제12조 따라 도로변에 조성된 가로수는 열악한 생육환경으로 종합적인 관리가 필요하며 척박한 토양에 심어진 세종시 가로수는 더욱 세심한 관리가 필요함을 설명했다.
가로수는 미기후 개선과 대기 정화, 도시경관 조성, 심리적 안정 등을 제공하지만, 정작 녹지율 52.4%에 달하는 세종시 가로수를 통해서는 그 혜택을 체감하기 어려운 실정임을 지적했다.
박 의원은 “세종시도 ‘가로수 생육불량 TF팀’을 운영하고, 전담 부서를 신설하여 매년 40억원 이상의 ‘가로수 관리’ 예산을 편성해 생육 개선을 위해 노력했다”며 가로수를 위한 행보가 있었음을 언급했다.
