제31차 페루 리마 APEC(아시아태평양 경제협력체) 일정을 마친 윤석열 대통령이 17일(현지시간) 제19차 G20(주요 20개국) 정상회의 참석차 브라질 리우데자네이루에 도착했다. 이번 중남미 순방 두 번째 방문국이자 마지막 일정이다.
윤 대통령은 이날 밤 대통령 전용기 공군 1호기 편으로 리우데자네이루 갈레앙 공군기지에 도착해 관계자들 환영을 받고 이동한 가운데 18일(현지시간)부터 시작되는 G20 정상회의 준비에 들어갔다. 공항엔 브라질 측 브레노 코스타 리우 지역대사·파비우 실바 공군기지 단장과 최영한 주브라질대사가 나와 윤 대통령을 맞았다.
윤 대통령은 G20 첫날인 18일 오전 '글로벌 기아 빈곤퇴치 연합(GAAHP) 출범식'에 참석해 기아·빈곤 퇴치에 대한 한국 정부 기여 방안을 밝힌다. '사회적 포용·기아·빈곤 퇴치' 주제 정상회의 제1세션 참석 후 '글로벌 거버넌스 제도개혁' 주제의 제2세션에 참여해 주요 경제국으로 성장한 대한민국 발전 경험을 토대로 한 제안·공약을 발표한다.

윤 대통령은 이번에 G20·MIKTA(믹타·멕시코·인도네시아·대한민국·튀르키예·호주로 구성된 국가협의체) 주요 회원국과의 회담에서 글로벌 사우스·중견국을 아우르는 글로벌 중추국가로서의 네트워크를 공고화한다는 계획이다.
MIKTA 정상회동 경우 취임 후 3년 연속 참석하는 가운데 MIKTA 주요 회원국과의 양자회담을 통해 실질 협력을 강화하면서 다자주의 강화 의지를 재확인할 방침이다.
대통령실은 "G20 정상회의 계기로 남아프리카공화국·멕시코·인도네시아 등 국가 정상들과 별도 회담을 추진한다"고 전했다. 윤 대통령은 이틀간 G20 정상회의 공식 일정을 소화 후 오는 21일(한국시간) 새벽 귀국 예정이다.
