한설 예비역 장군(육군 소장)은 11월19일 페이스북에 “미국에 대한 지정학적 대역습의 의미, 트럼프의 한계와 한국 정치의 방향에 대해, 좀 더 멀리보자” 제목의 글을 올렸다. 이 글에서 한국은 체질개선을 통한 재출발의 기회를 상실하고 있다고 피력했다.

한설 예비역 장군은 결론 부분에서 “윤석열 대통령을 비롯한 기득권 정치세력들은 강력한 정치권력을 가지고 있으면서도 적절한 부의 재분배를 통한 사회의 안정을 통한 국가의 생존과 지속적인 발전을 이뤄내지 못하고 있다. 미국과 비슷한 계급적 모순의 확대 재생산 과정에 돌입하고 있는 것이다. 한국도 시간이 별로 없다. 이미 체질개선을 통한 재출발의 기회를 상실하는 과정에 돌입하고 있다. 한국이 처한 문제의 본질이 무엇인가를 정확하게 파악하는 정치인의 등장이 시급한 실정이다. 한국이 직면한 모순은 매우 구조적이다. 그렇다고 해서 한국의 구조적 모순을 기존의 사회주의적 혹은 좌파적 강령으로 해결하기는 불가능하다는 것을 명심해야 한다. 한국의 문제를 해결하기 위한 새로운 접근과 고민이 필요하다는 뜻”이라면서 “한국이 현재 직면한 문제는 윤석열과 이재명 같은 정치인들이 보여주고 있는 포퓰리즘적 행위로 해결할 수 있는 수준과 범위를 한참은 넘었다는 이야기다. 우리가 진짜로 고민해야 할 문제다. 복잡하고 많은 고민이 필요한 문제를 아침에 커피 한잔을 하면서 쏟아 낸다. 조금이라도 달라지길 바란다. 좀 더 멀리보자”고 제안했다.
