울진군, 울진한우 명품화 사업 추진

19일 울진군에 따르면 이번 사업은 한우협회 울진군지부의 건의로 추진됐으며, 지난 8월 한우농가를 대상으로 한우수정란 이식사업 수요조사 결과 70여 농가에서 사업을 희망하여 사업에 탄력을 받았다. 내년부터 수정란 이식 사업 추진을 목표로 준비 중이다.

한우수정란 이식사업은 유전능력이 우수한 암소(공란우)의 후대축을 다량 생산하기 위하여 체내 및 체외 수정란을 생산하여 대리모에 이식하는 방법으로, 우수한 유전능력을 가진 우량한우를 조기에 개량할 수 있는 장점이 있다. 그러나 수정란 이식 후 수태율이 낮은 문제점이 있어 임신에서 출산까지 농가의 지속적인 관리가 필요하다는 것이 관계자의 설명이다.

이와 관련하여 울진군은 지난 10월 28일 농업기술센터 교육장에서 경상북도 축산기술연구소 연구사를 초빙하여 수정란 이식 사업의 필요성 및 추진 방향에 대해 1차 교육을 실시하였으며, 오는 11월 26일에 사업 희망농가 60여 명을 대상으로 대리모 사양관리와 수태율 향상방안에 대해 2차 교육을 추진할 계획이다.

백운화 농정과장은 “한우의 경쟁력은 개량이 최우선”이라며 “이번 사업을 통해 한우농가의 개량 기간을 단축하여 기존 한우와 차별화된 고능력 한우 생산으로 ‘울진한우 명품화’를 추진하겠다”라고 말했다.

손병복 울진군수는 “성공적인 사업추진을 위해 가장 중요한 사항이 농장주의 확고한 의지”라고 밝히며 “고품질 울진한우 생산을 위해 축산농가의 적극적인 협조와 노력”을 당부했다.
