한설 예비역 장군은 11월21일 페이스북에 “윤석열 정부 후반기의 참신한 인사실행을 기다리며” 제하의 글을 올렸다. 이 글에서 “윤석열 대통령의 주위에 윤석열 대통령이 버거워하며 쓴 소리를 마다하지 않는 사람 몇은 반드시 있어야 한다. 이런 점들에 관해 윤석열 대통령과 여권의 대오각성이 있기를 바란다.”라고 요망했다.

이어 “윤석열 대통령은 여러 실책이 없지 않았으나, 국가의 진로를 바로 잡았다는 점에서는 후대의 후한 평가를 받을 수 있으리라 본다. 그러나 그 방향을 좀 더 확실하게 만들기 위해서 다음 5년간 ‘보수의 재집권’ 즉 ‘정권의 재창출’이 반드시 필요하다. 이번에 이를 이루지 못한다면, 아마 이해찬 전 민주당 대표의 말대로 20년 혹은 50년의 진보 장기집권에 들어가리라고 우려하지 않을 수 없다”면서 “후반기 인사의 가장 큰 방점 가운데 하나는 바로 정권재창출을 위한 여건을 조성해 놓는 것에 찍어야 한다. 압도적 의회지배를 하는 야당과 잠깐 전략상 후퇴를 하였으나 언제 다시 칼을 겨누어올지 모르는 한동훈 대표의 세력이 양쪽에서 삼엄하게 지키고 있는 가운데 작게 확보된 토양 위에 어린 모종을 심는다. 그리하여 2027년 대선 때까지 온갖 정성을 다해 키워나간다면 정권 재창출이 도무지 불가능한 일은 아니라고 본다”고 지적했다.
