한덕수 국무총리는 오늘(28일) 충남 논산시 국방대학교에서 개최된 '2024 국방대학교 안보과정 졸업식'에 참석해 "자랑스러운 과학기술 강군 추진만이 미래 안보 환경에 선제적으로 대비할 수 있는 초석이며 국민 신뢰의 밑바탕"이 됨을 강조했다.
또한, 한 총리는 "국방대학교 안보과정은 민·관·군 안보 협력의 상징과도 같다" 면서 "국가의 안보는 군사적 측면 뿐 아니라, 국제 분쟁 및 갈등, 각종 재난과 기후변화에 이르기까지 다양한 국가 위기를 사전 대비하는 과정"이라고 말했다.
이어 "우리 동포인 북한 청년들이 누구를 위해, 무엇을 위하여 소중한 목숨을 걸고 싸워야 하느냐" 면서 "쓰레기 풍선 살포, 핵 위협과 미사일 능력 고도화, 러·북간 불법적인 군사 협력 중단"을 강력히 촉구했다.
그러면서 "우리는 국가안보를 위협하는 도발에 대해 압도적 대북 억지력을 토대로 대한민국의 자유와 평화를 확고히 수호하고 있으며, 장병들에 대한 복지와 처우 개선으로 군에 대한 국민의 믿음을 한층 드높이고 있다"고 역설했다.
아울러 한 총리는 세계적 방산산업 선진국으로서 대한민국의 위상, 최첨단의 강력한 국방태세 구축 등에 관해 언급하기도 했다.
이날 졸업식에는 이집트 육군 준장, 방글라데시 해군사관학교장 진급 대상자 등 16개국 총16명의 외국군 수탁생을 포함, 45주간의 교육을 마친 220명이 졸업증을 수여 받았다.
