충남 서천군은 서천갯벌의 세계유산 등재 의미와 생태적 가치를 알리기 위해 지난달 30일부터 12월 1일까지 해양환경공단과 함께 개최한 ‘서천갯벌 세계유산캠프’가 성공리에 마무리됐다고 5일 밝혔다.
이번 캠프는 지난 11월 11일부터 14일까지 갯벌유산과 철새 탐조에 관심 있는 초등학생 가족을 대상으로 참가 신청을 받았으며, 총 217팀 중 추첨을 통해 선발된 8개 팀 30명이 캠프에 참가했다.
캠프는 해양수산부가 주최하고 군과 해양환경공단이 주관했으며 서천갯벌이 지닌 생물다양성과 바닷새 이동 경로로서의 중요성을 알리는 다양한 프로그램으로 구성됐다.
주요 프로그램으로는 ▲갯벌생물 관찰과 철새 탐조, ▲지역특산물 체험, ▲해양 정화 활동 등이 진행됐으며 참가자들은 서천의 아름다운 자연환경을 체험하며 환경보전의 중요성을 배우는 시간을 가졌다.
