시에 따르면 Korea CEO Summit과 World CEO Summit Awards 2024 조직위원회가 주최·주관하고 중소벤처기업부, 서울특별시 등이 후원하는 이번 시상은 국가와 세계사회의 지속 가능한 발전에 크게 기여한 기업인과 지도자에게 주어지는 상이다.
경주시는 2025년 APEC 정상회의 유치, 황리단길 조성, 통합 모바일 관광앱 ‘경주로ON’ 출시 △탄소중립 실천 선도도시 선포, 어르신 시내버스 무료 이용 등의 공로를 인정받았다.
경주는 올 6월 삼국통일 이후 최대 성과라 평가받는 2025년 APEC 정상회’를 유치했으며, 지난달 28일에는 APEC 정상회의 지원 특별법이 국회 본회의를 통과했다.
황리단길은 한옥에 대한 건축 행정절차 간소화, 보행 친화 거리 조성, 대릉원 입장료 폐지 등 행정적·재정적 뒷받침으로 사계절 내내 많은 인파가 몰려드는 전국 최고의 명소로 자리 잡았다.
지난해 9월에는 ‘경주로ON’ 모바일 앱 하나로 숙박, 교통, 체험, 맛집의 예약과 결제가 한 번에 가능한 통합 관광 플랫폼을 출시했다. 여기에 4개 국어로 서비스를 제공해 해외 관광객들까지 이용 가능해졌다.
올 4월에는 전국 최초 민간 주도의 탄소중립 실천 선도도시 선포식을 개최해 학생, 주부, 소상공인 등 각계각층의 자발적 실천 유도로 탄소중립 시민 실천 운동을 전개하고 있다.
내년 7월부터는 경주시 거주 70세 이상 어르신이면 누구나 시내버스를 무료로 이용하게 된다. 이 사업은 70세 이상 어르신, 장애인, 국가유공자의 이동권을 보장해 삶의 질 향상을 도모하고자 마련됐다.
어르신 기본요금 무료택시 사업도 내년부터 1회 사용 한도가 8000원 → 1만2000원으로 늘고, 연간 지원 금액도 13만2천원 → 16만원으로 인상된다.

한편 정책혁신 CEO부문에는 주낙영 시장과 함께 박형준 부산광역시장, 송석준 국회의원도 공동 수상자로 선정됐다.
