브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 이재명 더불어민주당 대표는 12일 "지금은 우리가 쿠데타를 막아서 웃으면서 대응할 수 있지만 수없이 중복된 우연들 중 하나라도 삐끗했다면 우리 앞에 펼쳐졌을 그 지옥들, 혹여라도 앞으로 펼쳐질 그 지옥을 막기 위해서라도 윤석열 대통령은 이제 그 자리에서 내려와야 한다"고 밝혔다.
이재명 대표는 이날 국회에서 열린 최고위원회의에서 "5.18 당시의 참혹한 광경이 오늘의 현실이 될 뻔했다. 윤석열 대통령은 너무 많은 시간을 보내지말고 이제 다 내려놓으시길 바란다"며 이같이 말했다.
이 대표는 "국민 여러분들은 다시 한번 이번 내란 주범들이 발표한 포고령 1호 내용을 한번 읽어보길 바란다"며 "(포고령을 보면) 정치활동 금지, 집회결사 금지 언론출판 중단 등 민주주의 체제를 완전히 부정해 오로지 내란 수괴 윤석열이 왕으로서 유일하게 정치활동의 자유, 언론표현의 자유를 누리게 된다"며 "또 국가 1호 보안시설에 1000명 이상을 감금하려고 했다. 절로 욕이 나온다"고 했다.
이어 "만약 지난 3일 밤 우리 국민들이 나서서 계엄군을 막아주지 않았다면, 또 국회의원들이 체포 구금을 감수하고 국회로 모여들고 경찰이 막는 정문을 피해 담벼락을 타고 넘지 않았다면, 5.18 민주화운동 당시 그 참혹한 광경이 대한민국의 오늘 현실이 될 뻔했다"며 "그런데 내란수괴는 최고 권력자 자리를 지키면서 여전히 최고 권력 그리고 군 통수권을 행사하고 있다"고 했다.
그러면서 "당신의 그 알량한 자존심과 고집 때문에 수많은 대한민국 국민이 왜 고통을 겪어야 하냐. 경제를 망치고 대외 신인도가 떨어지고 미래가 훼손되면 대체 누구에게 득이 되는가. 국민의힘은 탄핵을 찬성할 것이라고 생각한다"고 덧붙였다.
