충남도는 지난 13일 스플라스 리솜에서 김태흠 지사를 비롯해 정광섭 도의회 부의장, 김일수 도교육청 부교육감, 장애인체육 선수·지도자 등 250여 명이 참석한 가운데 '제44회 전국장애인체육대회 해단식 및 2024년 장애인체육 유공자 표창 수여식'을 개최했다고 밝혔다.
이번 행사는 '대회 결과 보고, 유공자 표창, 포상금 수여' 등의 순으로 진행됐다.
이 자리에서 김 지사는 제44회 전국장애인체육대회 충남 선수단과 임원진을 격려하고 도전 정신과 열정으로 종합 7위를 달성한 것에 대해 감사를 전했다.
김 지사는 “여러분의 도전과 열정의 스토리가 개인의 영예를 넘어 장애인 체육 활성화의 큰 마중물이 될 것”이라며, “올 한 해 흘린 땀과 눈물이 이번 대회에서 164개의 메달, 또 종합 7위라는 성적으로 돌아왔다”고 말했다.

한편, 도는 지난 10월 경남 김해에서 개최된 제44회 전국장애인체전에 24개 종목 689명의 선수와 임원이 출전해 금메달 49개, 은메달 44개, 동메달 71개 등 총 164개의 메달을 획득, 3년 연속 종합 7위를 달성했다.
