[브레이크뉴스=주윤한 기자] 거창군은 17일 ‘화장시설 설치추진위원회’에서 화장시설 건립지역에 사용할 명칭을 ‘천상공원’ 으로 선정했다.
군은 지난 8월 16일부터 9월 30일까지 ‘거부감 없는 공원 같은 화장시설’의 이미지를 부각하기 위해 군민을 대상으로 명칭 공모를 진행했다.
명칭 공모에는 총 232건이 접수되며 군민들의 높은 관심을 확인할 수 있었다.
1차 선호도 심사를 통해 33건의 명칭을 선정한 후 2차 심사는 거창군 화장시설 설치추진위원회에서 심도 있는 논의를 거쳐 6개 후보로 압축해 대중성, 적합성, 창의성 등을 종합적으로 검토한 결과 최종 3개의 명칭을 선정했다.
이후 다른 지역과의 유사성, 중복성, 편의성 등을 고려해 건립지역에 사용 명칭으로 ‘천상공원’을 결정했으며 이는 ‘이승에서의 고달픈 삶은 모두 잊고 하늘 위의 공원에서 영원한 삶을 이어간다’는 의미를 담고 있다.
구인모 군수는 “거창군 화장시설 건립지역 명칭 공모에 군민들의 많은 관심과 참여에 깊은 감사를 드리며 ‘격조있는 이별, 천상공원’에서 고인을 정중히 배웅할 수 있도록 화장시설 건립사업을 차질 없이 추진하겠다”고 밝혔다.
거창군은 배산임수의 지형적 특성을 최대한 활용해 건물 배치와 내부 시설을 구성하고 방문객들이 힘든 마음을 치유할 수 있도록 산책로와 조경시설을 갖춘 친환경적인 공원으로 조성할 계획이다.
또한, 이 공간은 단순 화장시설을 넘어 주민들에게 휴식과 문화 공간을 제공하는 장소로 거듭날 예정이다.
