브레이크뉴스 박동제 기자= 경찰이 기업공개(IPO)와 관련해 투자자들을 속여 지분을 팔게 한 의혹을 받는 방식혁 하이브(HYBE) 의장에 대해 구속영장을 신청했다.
21일 경찰 등에 따르면, 서울경찰청 금융범죄수사대는 자본시장법 위반(사기적 부정거래) 혐의로 방시혁 의장에 대해 구속영장을 신청했다.
방시혁 의장은 앞서 지난 2019년 하이브를 상장하는 과정에서 기관 투자자, 벤처 캐피털(VC) 등 기존 투자자들에게 기업공개 계획이 없다고 속인 뒤 자신과 관계된 A 사모펀드가 설립한 특수목적법인(SPC)에 지분을 넘기는 방식으로 부당 이득을 취한 혐의를 받는다.
이로 인해 방시혁 의장은 A 사모펀드로부터 주식 매각 차익의 30%를 받아 약 1900억원대의 이익을 챙겼다는 의혹을 받고 있다.
사기적 부정거래 의혹에 대해 당시 하이브 측은 “현재 제기되고 있는 사안들에 대해 당사는 상세한 설명과 함께 관련 자료를 제출하는 등 금융당국과 경찰의 사실관계 확인에 적극 협조하고 있다”며 “다소 시간이 걸리더라도 당시 상장이 법률과 규정을 준수하며 진행됐다는 점을 충실히 소명하겠다”고 전한 바 있다.
경찰은 지난해 9월부터 다섯 차례에 걸쳐 방시혁 의장을 소환해 조사를 진행했으며, 방시혁 의장은 이번 수사와 관련해 출국금지 조치가 내려진 상태다.
