산림청 산하 한국산림복지진흥원은 청각장애인을 위한 산림복지 서비스 접근성을 높이기 위해 '산림복지 수어카드'를 개발했다고 19일 밝혔다.
이 교구는 물과 바람 등의 산림치유 자원을 포함한 16종의 단어를 선정하여 시각적으로 표현했으며, 산림복지진흥원의 캐릭터 '포이'와 '마리'를 활용하여 숲의 다양한 이미지를 나타냈다.
또한, 개발 과정에서 농아인 자립지원기관인 대전시립손소리복지관과의 공동 연구를 통해 수어의 적절성과 디자인의 범용성을 고려했으며, 장애 인식 개선 사업을 펼치는 블룸워크와 협력하여 다양한 청각장애인의 요구를 수어교구에 효과적으로 반영하기 위해 노력했다.
특히, 이번에 개발된 수어카드는 수어 사전과도 연계되어, 사용자인 청각장애인들이 더욱 쉽게 접근·활용할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.
