브레이크뉴스 문홍철 기자= 국토교통부가 무안공항 활주로 인근 콘크리트 구조물에 대해 “다른 국내 공항에도 설치된 것”이라고 설명했다. 콘크리트 구조물이 이번 사고를 더 키웠을 것이라는 지적에 대해 해명에 나선 것으로 보인다.
국토교통부는 30일 오전 정부세종청사에서 진행된 ‘무안 여객기 사고 관련 브리핑’에서 이 같이 밝혔다.
주종완 국토부 항공정책실장은 “무안 공항 활주로 끝단에서 약 251ｍ 떨어진 지점에 방위각 시설(로컬라이저)이 설치돼 있다”며 “여수공항과 청주공항 등 다른 국내 공항에도 비슷한 콘크리트 구조물 형태의 방위각 시설이 있다”고 말했다.
방위각 시설은 항공기의 활주로 진입을 돕는 안테나 역할을 하고 있으며, 일반적으로 흙으로 조성된 둔덕 상부에 콘크리트 기초와 함께 설치되고 있다.
주 항공정책실장은 “방위각 시설은 임의로 설치할 수 있는 것이 아니라 설치 규정이 있다”며 “사고와의 연관성에 대해서는 면밀히 파악해 볼 계획이다”고 전했다.
한편, 국토부는 무안공항에서 발생한 제주항공 여객기 사고와 관련, 피해가족에 대한 원활한 지원을 위해 ‘재난피해자 통합지원센터’를 지난 29일 22시 30분경 설치하고 즉시 운영을 개시했다.
통합지원센터(센터장 국토교통부 제2차관)는 무안공항 관리동 3층에 설치됐으며, 국토부, 행정안전부, 보건복지부, 전라남도, 무안군, 한국공항공사 및 항공사 등으로 구성됐다.
통합지원센터에서는 △사고수습 상황 브리핑 △유가족 대표 면담 △사망자별 신원확인 및 유가족 알림 △장례절차 안내 △비상물품 지원 등 유가족 지원을 수행하고 있다.
